Rachel Duarte is an accomplished residential interior designer known for creating distinctive, thoughtfully curated interiors that balance beauty, function, and timeless design. With a meticulous yet creative approach, Rachel guides each project with intention—from concept through completion—resulting in spaces that elevate everyday living and leave a lasting impression on her clients’ lives.
With over 20 years of industry experience, Rachel brings a deep understanding of interior architecture, space planning, and custom detailing. Her work reflects a passion for designing environments that are not only visually compelling but also highly livable and tailored to each client’s lifestyle.
Rachel honed her craft while working with some of Los Angeles’ most respected design firms, where invaluable mentorship and hands-on experience shaped her design philosophy. Throughout her career, she has served in key roles including Project Manager, Senior Designer, and Principal Designer, successfully leading complex, large-scale residential construction and renovation projects.
Working in close collaboration with architects, builders, and developers, Rachel has designed both private residences and market-driven homes. She is highly skilled in coordinating architectural details and custom construction elements, ensuring each project is cohesive, enduring, and reflective of her clients’ personal style.
At the heart of Rachel’s success is her ability to cultivate relationships built on trust, respect, and confidence. She is adept at working across a range of project scopes and budgets and believes strongly in maintaining close collaboration with both clients and construction teams throughout the entire process. Rachel is deeply committed to delivering the best possible interpretation of her clients’ vision—creating homes that feel intentional, personal, and timeless.
Personal
A Texas native, Rachel relocated to Pasadena, California in 1997, where she discovered a way to pursue her design career while still honoring her Southern roots. Raised in a family of antique dealers and fine art collectors, she was immersed in design and architecture from an early age—an influence that continues to shape her work today.
This background informs Rachel’s signature style: a thoughtful blend of elegance and functionality, layered with character, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place. Her designs seamlessly complement the personality and lifestyle of each client.
Outside of the studio, Rachel draws inspiration from Pasadena’s rich culture, art, and culinary scene, as well as from travel experiences that continually inform and inspire her creative process.
I believe the most important element to the design process is a comprehensive understanding of the needs of the client and their expectations.
